Baramulla, May 22: The Jammu and Kashmir police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla has become perhaps the first district in the entire Union Territory to start the initiative of “Green Lane” to ensure speedy access to health workers and ambulances.
Police in Baramulla have come up with the Green Lane initiative to ensure hassle-free and timely access to health officials like doctors, nurses, and other emergencies including ambulances.
Talking to a news agency, Rayees Mohammad Bhat Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP) Baramulla said that the initiative has been taken to ensure hassle-free movement of health workers, doctors, and patients who get stuck due to traffic jams at different naka’s.
He said that, “We were receiving regular phone calls from doctors, health workers, and ambulance drivers complaining about loss of time at police checkpoints which results in getting them late for scheduled duties.”
Bhat said that the Green Lane has been made at Naka’s so that health workers don’t have to wait to follow the laid procedure.
“The Green Lane has been made operational at five Naka’s in the district as of now, mostly on the highway at the routes that lead to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla,” he said.
He said that efforts are underway to have similar Green Lane at all the police checkpoints adding that “We have observed that normally ambulances are facing challenges these days even on routine days.”
“Our efforts are on to extend such facilities at all the naka’s to ensure that even common people don’t have to face any inconvenience. But it may take some extra time, the SSP said.
