Bandipora, Sep 13: Inhabitants of Suderkoot Payeen area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district here on Tuesday staged a protest against Jal-Shakti Department for failing to provide adequate water supply to them.
Scores of women from the area blocked Bandipora-Srinagar road, causing a traffic mess in the area.
“We are not getting adequate water supply. We have been given assurances by authorities, but nothing has been done in this regard,” the protesting women said.
They said that the administration had provided a water supply scheme for the area but now it is being shifted to another place, which is completely unfair to the local consumers here.
They appealed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora and officials of the concerned department to look into the matter and redress their genuine demand at the earliest.
Meanwhile, DC Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad visited the spot and assured the protestors that their demands would be met. (KNO)
