Tulail School lacks basic facilities, locals seek Govt attention

Gurez, Sep 22: Students and teachers of Government Middle School Refugee 2nd at Tulail area of Gurez in Bandipora district are facing hardships for lack of sufficient space, approach road, playground and other basic facilities at the school.
Located near the international border, the school management finds it difficult to accommodate students in the wooden structure school for the last many years.
The locals said that absence of basic facilities at the school is forcing a number of students from economically weaker sections of society to either discontinue their schooling or to get enrolled in another school.
“We have requested the authorities several times to enhance the infrastructure of this school and also asked for a road to be built here, but so far no step has been taken in this regard.
Tajamul Hussain, a student said that this school is made of wood and we feel scared in it.” We do not consider ourselves safe here. The administration should construct a new school building for us, he said.
“We don’t have basic facilities here nor is there any playground for us to play,” Samreen, another student, said, adding that the students are fed up because of the lack of basic services in the School.
A teacher wishing not to be named said that it is impossible for them to impart education under such conditions. Many times higher authorities visited the school and promised a lot, but nothing was done.
The locals also appealed to the Director of School Education, Kashmir to augment the basic facilities in the school as soon as possible.
Meanwhile an official said that they will collect all the information and try to address those issues immediately. (KNO)
