Gear up, bring respite

The maximum as well as the minimum temperature has almost plummeted across the Valley, giving the indication of a harsh winter period ahead, but what needs to be done is to ensure all the facilities and supplies to the people so that the sufferings of people are put to an immediate end. The winter period in Kashmir has always brought miseries to the people, especially due to the erratic electricity in every district. This is happening despite the tall claims of the administration about improving the electricity supply to the people. For the last couple of years, the government has been promising of 24×7 electricity supply to the consumers in the Valley during winters, but unfortunately the people continue to face hardships in the chilly weather conditions as the improvement has always remained a dream for the local populace. Although the curtailment hours have been reduced compared to three years back, the hours of curtailments are still pushing the consumers to the wall, thereby forcing them to hit the streets from time to time. Therefore, it is the time when the concerned department should gear up and ensure that all necessary measures are taken well on time to ensure that there is no paucity of electricity during the winters. Moreover, the men and machinery should be geared up to tackle any situation in the winters, especially after the snowfall. The people of Jammu and Kashmir should not be forced to face hardships like the past and the developmental projects being executed should benefit the people.
