Discrimination or What?

In a startling revelation, the government has made it clear that the areas where less revenue is being generated won’t be provided with round-the-clock electricity. For the last several decades, the electricity situation has always remained worse, but with the augmentation of the power infrastructure, the consumers from time to time were given hopes that things will change from now or tomorrow. However, the recent statement made by the Chief Engineer of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), saying that good revenue generating metered areas would be provided with round the clock electricity is seemingly an indication that the department is focused towards the areas only where the revenue is generated. But, it is unfortunate for the people, who belong to the metered areas where less revenue is generated as the department would for no reasons be focused towards ensuring round-the-clock electricity to them. There are people who question the intentions behind the statement, saying that the things must be cleared whether the people, who use electricity judiciously, are being asked to go for extra usage to increase the revenue collection. The statement has brought confusion among the people and thus needs to be clarified. It is the time when the government should support the judicious use of electricity amid the rise in the demand of electricity due to the winter period. Therefore, the statements that are bringing confusions must be avoided and the seemingly discrimination in terms of supplying electricity must have to be put to an immediate end so that the government’s motive of equal rights and equal development is achieved without any bias and favoritism.
