4 drug peddlers held in Budgam, Pulwama: Police

Srinagar, Nov 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday have arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam & Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“In Budgam, at a checkpoint established at Malpora Crossing, a Police Party of Police Station Khag intercepted two persons carrying nylon bags on their shoulders. After noticing police party, they tried to flee from the spot however, alert police party apprehended them tactfully,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
They have been identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir resident of Nusso Khag and Mohd Shafi Wani son of Abdul Majeed Wani resident of Hanji Lawipora Beerwah. During search, officers recovered 13 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in the said nylon bags.
Meanwhile in Pulwama, a police party of Police Station Litter at a checkpoint established at Achan intercepted two suspicious persons who on seeing police party tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully.
They have been identified as Mohd Altaf Dar son of Gh Mohd Dar & Tariq Ahmad Dar son of Ali Mohd Dar, both residents of Achan Pulwama. During search, 01 Kg of Charas Powder was recovered from their possession.
They have been arrested and shifted to respective Police Stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
