Sopore, Dec 13: A Bomb Disposal Squad defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) after it was detected by the joint forces at Tulibal area of Sopore town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said here on Tuesday.
Officials said that a Joint team of J&K’s Sopore Police along with Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF detected an IED on Sopore – Kupwara bypass road at Tulibal in Sopore town.
Shortly after the detection of the IED, traffic was halted and the movement of people was restricted, they said. Adding that a Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to spot and destroyed the IED without causing any harm.
“The timely recovery of the IED thwarted an untoward incident and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militants to derail peace and harmony”, they added.
Meanwhile, a case under the relevant sections of law in this regard has been registered in Police Station Amargrah/Tarzoo and investigation has been set into motion, they added.
