Maintain dignity of departments

The synergy and coordination between the government departments is seemingly missing on the ground and Thursday’s incident between Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) employees and Traffic policemen is indicating the non-cooperation between the departments. Not only the lack of coordination, but the incident is also pointing towards how the anti-encroachment drive is being used as a tool to harass even the government departments, which is painting a grim picture of the administration. A video has also gone viral, wherein the SMC men could be seen removing the traffic booth at Tagore Hall in Srinagar while the traffic policemen have claimed that the action was followed after one of the SMC employees was challaned for not obeying the mandatory traffic rules. The allegations levelled by the employees from two separate departments are certainly defaming the two departments and thus deserves to be investigated thoroughly to take a strict action against the involved persons. The higher ups of the departments must sit on a table and ensure that no bad message is conveyed to the people through their actions and ensure a strong coordination between the departments so that the fingers are not raised against the departments. Such incidents will not only defame the departments but will also lose faith among the masses, which must not be allowed at any cost. Therefore, the government at this juncture must play a key role in this regard and ensure that nobody is allowed to harm the functioning of the departments due to the incident like Tuesday. Also, it is the time when strict action should be taken against the employees so that the fingers are not raised against the anti-encroachment drive launched by the government.
