The holy Muslim festival—Eid-ul-Fitr, is all set to be celebrated by the end of April month and according to the teachings the Muslim population have been directed to pay Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to the needy and deserving persons before the festival. Every year, the religious clerics have been fixing the rates per person for the mandatory Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and this year too, the Muslims have been asked to pay Rs 65 as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to the poor and needy persons so that they can celebrate Eid like other Muslims as well. However, it has been witnessed and observed that most of the people are paying Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to the people, who don’t deserve it, thus the reasons behind paying Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is not achieved. The religious clerics have been making fervent appeals to the Muslims not to pay Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to the undeserving persons, but asking them to identify the downtrodden families and ensure that only these people are given the Fitr for celebrating the holy festival. The people must understand that the beggars, who are seeking alms on the roads everywhere are demanding Sadaqat-ul-Fitr ahead of the Eid, but it has to be understood that there is no such provision in the Islam and the religious clerics have clearly refused to pay Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to them. The local behbood committees should gear up well on time and ensure that all the deserving families will get the Sadaqat-ul-Fitr on time so that they would be able to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr like other Muslims. Moreover, the religious clerics should also come up with a proper list and mention the persons who are entitled for the Sadaqat-ul-Fitr.
