Srinagar, Jun 10: In view of the ongoing Covid-19 situation in the valley along with the other parts of the country, PM Cares has donated three oxygen generation plants of 100 LPM capacity to the Kashmir valley.
An official said that under the PM cares, three oxygen generating plants of 100 LPM capacity have been allotted to Kashmir, and once the shipment is received they will be installed at Primary Health Care (PHC) Shah Abad Dooru, PHC Pampore and PHC Sogam, Kupwara.
According to the officials, amid second wave of Global Pandemic Novel Coronavirus in Kashmir, after which the augmentation of medical oxygen was started on war footing basis by the authorities, the current total oxygen availability in valley hospitals is around 27,375 LPM, which is further to be augmented by the month of July this year.
Earlier in the last month, India’s largest Car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), as part of it’s CSR activity, had also announced that it will help install up to two oxygen production plants with capacity of 500 LPM, each in Jammu and Srinagar Medical Colleges in order to strengthen the health infrastructure of the UT.
Sources in the administration said that, the government is mulling to further enhance the availability of medical oxygen by the first week of July, and out of 37, a total of twenty six oxygen plants have been received so far.
