Bandipora town inundated after incessant rains

Bandipora, May 2: Incessant rains have caused waterlogging in various parts of the main town in northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district, people complained here on Tuesday.
The local residents of main town including Plan, Nowpora, Nabripora and Ajar have expressed their resentment, saying that the problem of water logging occurs every time it rains.
They blamed the administration for neglecting the drainage issue that causes these localities to waterlog. “The interior roads were in poor shape, with many potholes, which posed a threat to passengers which should be looked into immediately by the administration,” the locals said.
Rameez Ahmad, a local, said that the poor drainage system across the town has been causing immense hardships to locals as slight rain floods the roads.
He said that they have apprised the municipal authorities and district administration about the issue many times but they failed to address their grievance.
Municipal Committee Bandipora president Basharat Hussain Najar could not be contacted for comments as his phone was switched off.
