Pulwama, May 10: The roof of Jamia Masjid located in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district gutted in fire incident on Wednesday morning, police said.
They said that flames started emanating from the top of the roof of Jamia Masjid ‘Noor-ul-Islam’ while locals informed the Fire and Emergency Department in time.
Fire tenders rushed to the spot and with the help of locals and police doused the fire.
The cause of the fire is being ascertained, police said.
Locals said that all the students from Darul Uloom adjacent to the Masjid have been evacuated safely.
There has been no loss of life or injury to anyone.
“Besides a portion of the roof, the timber kept on the top portion of the Masjid for construction purposes has been damaged. We are thankful to firefighters and police and locals for putting out the fire in time,” one of the members of the Masjid Committee said. [KNT]
