Bandipora, May 12: The residents of Kaloosa, Quilmuqam, Onagam, Turkpora, and Mangnipora villages in Bandipora district have expressed their frustration and discontent with the Pradan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) department for the prolonged delay in upgrading the condition of a vital road in the area.
The road, which was supposed to be repaired four years ago, remains in a deteriorated state, causing immense hardships for the local community. In their grievances, the villagers said that the 7-kilometer stretch of road from Kaloosa to Gurdal is in an appalling state, riddled with potholes that make travel unbearable. “What should be a 20-minute journey now takes over an hour due to the treacherous road conditions,” they said.
Saqib Ahmad, a local resident remarked, “We have been patient for far too long, enduring this crumbling road that has become a daily inconvenience. It’s disheartening to see that despite assurances, the PMGSY department has failed to fulfill its commitment to repair and upgrade the road.”
Abdul Aziz, another resident added, “The road’s condition is a constant risk to our safety. It not only affects our daily commute but also hampers transportation of essential goods and services to our villages. We urge the authorities to take immediate action to address this issue.”
The villagers have urged the concerned authorities to intervene swiftly and address the long-standing issue by prioritizing the repair and improvement of the road.
An official from the PMGSY department assured the community that the concerns would be addressed promptly. (KNO)
