Sopore, May 16: The first-ever mushroom unit at the Zainageer area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has caught everybody’s interest as it is run by a mother of four children.
Hajira said that time has changed and women are no longer dependent on men.
She said the idea struck her mind when she was travelling in a bus. “Some people were talking about the mushroom business, and I like it. Without wasting time, I directly approached the concerned authorities, who guided and supported me in setting up my unit in the village,” she said.
At the initial stage, it was quite challenging for me, but with time, I started getting good results, and today the whole village is feeling proud of me, she said, adding, “It was a great initiative. I really feel satisfied.”
Hajira said that currently she is selling around 3 to 5 kg daily, and the demand is continuously increasing. For this business, very little investment is needed, and once started; one can easily earn a livelihood, she said.
“This unit has brought joy not only to my family but to the whole village as many girls are now coming forward to start such business,” she said.
Hajira thanked the administration for its support.
In her message to the youth, especially girls, Hajira said they should not waste their precious time in search of a job or other businesses. “Mushroom business is the best option,” she assured.
The youth who are interested in this sector should visit the horticulture department, where the officials will “not only assist but also provide support on the ground,” Hajira said.
