Srinagar, Jun 15: The students of Forestry faculty at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) on Thursday staged a protest here at Srinagar’s press enclave, demanding job security.
The protesting students said that the job protection in the forest department has been slashed and they feel humiliated for further pursuing their courses.
The protesters while talking to media persons in Srinagar’s press enclave said that recently it has come into their notice through a notification that the eligibility for the RO post has been changed to BSC overall, including Btech as well.
“And due to that, the technical course which we have been doing for 11 years will all go in vain and as we know the world is today working to save the forest and we are doing the same, as we give four years in BSC, three years in MSC and four years in PHD,” she said.
Furthermore, “we are giving eleven years to a degree and the government is not even taking eleven minutes to throw our degrees to dustbins, and now we are demanding justice as before the eligibility for AD post and forester post was changed, please tell us know where we will go,” asked the aggrieved protesters.
Moreover, “we would like to request the respected Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that all our issues should be listened to and intervened well and justice should be ensured,” she added.
