Parenting styles: How respect, discipline shape children’s future

In a significant and a poor-friendly step, the government has decided not to push the downtrodden section to the wall by ensuring a house and five marlas land to them, which would help in raising living standards among them. Under the fresh scheme, the poor people will heave a sigh of relief as they will no longer be forced to spend their nights and days under the open sky, but would get a roof as well as the four walls. Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir government has approved allotment of five marlas of land to each landless poor person under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (G) beneficiaries to build houses in the Union Territory. Such a step is most appreciated and much needed as it would pave the way for the downtrodden section of the society to think beyond and raise their living standards. However, it has been observed in the past that the benefits of the schemes are not being ensured to the deserving lot of the society, but some blue eyed people have always been given the benefits while the deserving have been ignored. As the new scheme has been launched for the poor, there is a need to ensure that only deserving lots should be accommodated under the scheme and those who have always tried to snatch the rights of the deserving should be kept at bay. The authorities should come up with a strict process in this regard and identify the deserving lot with hectic efforts so that the poor, who deserve to get the benefits, are accommodated.
