In what could be termed as the people-friendly measure, the administration in Srinagar has finally declared Badyari Chowk to Nehru Park segment of Boulevard Road as ‘No Halt Zone’ for vehicles to implement the decongestion framework. The decision is set to bring relief among the people from different places, especially those, who live along the route as it was quite difficult for them to reach their destinations on time due to the frequent traffic congestion along the route and have been pleading for the redressal of their grievances since long. The decision was taken as Boulevard road as a whole is thronged by a large number of locals and tourists, especially during the current season and frequent congestion is observed and traffic jam has become a norm around this road due to the unauthorized halt of vehicles, which in turn create a blockage for the smooth vehicular passage. The illegal parking along the route was causing huge inconvenience to the commuters, but the time has come when all the issues will be put to an end as the government has taken the step forward to ensure that no vehicle is illegally parked along the road stretch. However, to further streamline the traffic movement, there is a dire need to complete a small bridge at Dalgate at earliest as the spot has been forcing hundreds of commuters to suffer on a regular basis. Such an issue should also be taken up immediately and ensure that the commuters will not face any hardships while travelling on the busiest Dalgate- Boulevard Road.
