Baramulla, Jul 5: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant associate of Lashkar-e-Toiba along with arms and ammunition during a cordon and search operation in Kreeri village in Baramulla district.
A senior Police official said that following specific inputs, a cordon and search was launched in Nowpura Jagir village of Kreeri by a joint team of forces including Police, Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles and 2nd Battalion SSB.
He said that during the operation, a suspect, who tried to evade the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), was apprehended along with a pistol magazine and 3 live rounds.
He was immediately taken into custody for questioning.
During interrogation, the official said that he revealed his identity as Mohammed Sadiq Lone son of Mohammed Ramzan Lone of Nowpora Jagir and confessed that he was working for an active militant Adil Dentoo of Sopore and a foreigner Usman Bhai.
“Sadiq had acquired arms and ammunition from them for target killings and to terrorize the general public of the district,” he said.
Meanwhile, a case under Indian Arms Act & ULA (P) Act has been registered in police station Kreeri and further investigation has been taken up, the police official added.
