Srinagar, Aug 4: The government offices, politicians, bureaucrats, hospitals, security agencies and industries in Kashmir valley owe a whopping amount of hundreds of crores Rupees to Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) on the account of electricity bill.
The official figures reveal that the under Sub-Division Karan Nagar of KPDCL, Chief Accounts Officer SMC have Rs 32,68,735 pending on account of electricity charges.
Likewise the executive engineer (Estates) new secretariat has a whopping amount to the tune of Rs 1,53,46,837 pending on account of electricity charges.
The official figures further reveal that the executive engineer Roads and Building (Bridge) division has a balance of Rs 30,74,657.
According to the figures revealed by the Public Information (PIO) in a reply to Right to Information (RTI) application said that the Shalistore owes Rs 2,2,21,342 to KPDCL on account of electricity bill followed by archives and archeology department with an outstanding amount of Rs 1,72,239.
It also states that in the Karan Nagar division, the Chief Planning Officer has a balance of Rs 7,75,293 followed by Lawyers Chamber with Rs 2,93,451 and executive engineer electrical with Rs 2,28,885.
The PIO said that the ‘Deputy Commissioner (stamp) has a outstanding balance of Rs 41,74,902 followed by Deputy Commissioner with Rs 37,34,785, Deputy Director Statistics and Evaluation with Rs 4,45,878 and Secretary Legislative Assembly have a total outstanding balance of Rs 3,26,797’.
Likewise, AEE (STD-II) Karanagar have a total of Rs 15,66,572 pending on account of electricity charges followed by AEE (Left River Division) of SMC with Rs 56,00,844 and CAO (Public Lights) with Rs 10,17,77,521.
Stating the outstanding balance of police, security agencies and different battalions of CRPF in the division, the PIO said that more than Rs 40.7 crores were lying pending on account of electricity charges.
In the meantime, PIO of KPDCL Sub-Division Chanapora in a reply to RTI said that the officials, politicians and bureaucrats have an outstanding balance of Rs 1,63,605 followed by police and paramilitary forces with a balance of Rs 20,29,0,679, hospitals with Rs 30,17,365, industries with Rs 89,03,75 and other government departments with Rs 21,82,30,655.
