DDC Chairperson, DC Baramulla distribute 50 motorized tricycles among specially-abled

Baramulla, Aug 5: In an initiative aimed at empowering specially-abled individuals and enhancing their mobility, the Social Welfare Department Baramulla Saturday organised a distribution camp at Dak Bunglow, here.
Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safeena Beigh and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar in presence of the District Social Welfare Officer, Sajad Ahmad, distributed 50 motorized tricycles among specially-abled which would help them to carry out their day-to-day activities.
The event marked the first phase of the campaign in which 50 motorized tricycles were distributed, with 474 tricycles set to be distributed in a phased manner throughout the week across the district.
DDC Chairperson, conveyed her heartfelt congratulations to all the recipients and expressed her appreciation for the government’s proactive move to provide motorized scooties. The chairperson also extended her gratitude towards all the officers involved in making this program a success and acknowledges the positive impact it will have on the lives of the beneficiaries.
While interacting with beneficiaries, the Chairperson DDC was apprised that a few of the recipients were university students. The students conveyed their appreciation for the support provided as it would significantly aid them in continuing their education seamlessly.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sherish emphasized that the program is part of the government’s commitment to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all citizens and to empower the specially-abled persons.
The DC also directed the concerned officers to start phase wise driving training sessions for the recipients. The ceremony showcased the commitment of the government towards uplifting the lives of specially-abled people.
