Sopore, Aug 18: A male body was recovered from river Jhelum in Sopore town on Friday morning.
An official said that a man from Srinagar was missing for the last four days and his body was recovered on Friday morning from the river in Sopore.
The body as per the officials was seen floating on the river which prompted locals to call police.
Upon receiving a call, a police party from Sopore Police station subsequently took the body and shifted to Sub District Hospital Sopore.
After primary investigation, the man was identified as Nazir Ahmad Khanday son of Abdul Rahim Khanday, a resident of Astanpora Rawalpora Srinagar. He had been missing from Aug 14, said the official.
“After the legal-medico formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family for the last rites,” the official added. (KNO)
