Justice prevailed

Finally justice has prevailed as a victim, whose dreams were shattered by two youths almost nine years back, has heaved a sigh of relief as the court here has convicted the duo and awarded life imprisonment to the Srinagar residents. Almost nine years back, a Kashmiri law student girl was attacked with acid by two youths here in Srinagar following which they were formally arrested and the charge sheet was filed. It might have taken a long time, but at the end, the victim is happy with the verdict as the two accused have been convicted by the court Tuesday while awarding lifer to them and a fine of Rs 5 lakh each. However, the victim as well as the Advocate pleading on behalf of the victim demanded that the fine should have been according to the amount spent on the treatment of the victim so far. The incident had shocked the entire society, who were seeking stringent action against the accused. The whole society is presently expressing gratitude to the court for delivering justice to the victim, whose life and dreams got completely shattered after the incident. There is a need to listen to the public demand and come up with more stringent action against such culprits so that the involved are taken to task and that would serve as an example in the society and no one could dare to ruin the life of anyone in the future.
