‘600 Transit Accommodations to come-up for PM package employees in Kulgam’

Kulgam, Sep 2: Around 600 transit accommodation flats are being constructed by the district administration in south Kashmir’s Kulgam, officials said on Saturday.
An official said that the construction work of transit accommodation at Vessu, Mirhama and Chowgam villages of Kulgam district is in full swing.
“13 blocks having 208 flats are being built at Vessu Qazigund, 12 blocks with 192 flats each at Nihama and Chowgam,” the official said.
“In Mirhama, the estimated cost for the project is Rs 22.95 crore, while cost for the project at Chowgam is Rs 22.89 crore. At Vessu, the estimated cost of project is Rs 64.62 crore,” he said.
He said they have involved R&B and JKPCC as executive agencies for the three projects.
“Some of the construction is already completed, and the rest of the construction work will be completed in the next few months,” official said.
He said these flats are coming up for the Kashmiri Pandits working under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan (PMRP).
“These accommodations are for the security and protection of Kashmiri Pandits,” he said.
“We applaud the administration for taking this step. I believe that the construction work will be completed at earliest. We have high expectations from the administration,” Vijay Raina, Sarpanch Chowgam said.
He said the construction of these transit accommodations is a significant step towards the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
