Srinagar, Sep 7: Locals mostly women Thursday staged a protest outside the Badamibagh Cantonment in Batawara Srinagar against water shortage in the area.
The aggrieved locals blocked traffic on the main road and demanded restoration of the water supply.
“We are facing immense problems due to water shortage,” they said adding that despite taking up the issue with the authorities nothing changed on the ground.
The traffic remained suspended on the busy road for an hour. Later civil and police officers reached the spot and assured the protestors that the matter will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
The protesters appealed to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter. [KNT]
