Keep Kashmir connected

The government has already macadamized a huge chunk of the road length across the valley, but some of the roads are in complete shambles after the stretch were dug by the officials for some works. Khanyar area of Srinagar, just a few meters away from the Dastgeer Sahab (RA) shrine and the Khayam road leading towards the prominent private hospital are in dilapidated condition for a long time now. Both these roads witness a huge rush of commuters throughout the day, but have not been macadamized after the stretches were dug by the officials for some work. The already congested Khayam road stretch always remains jam-packed with the commuters as the area is largely visited by the tourists, where they witness frequent traffic congestion due to the dilapidated condition of the road. The situation worsens when a commuter is stuck in the traffic congestion in the area as the shambles condition of the road stretch gives tough to the people. One fails to understand why the concerned authorities don’t take immediate steps to repair the road whenever any spot is being dug for some underground works. Keeping in view the sufferings of people, it is time when the government should take immediate steps to macadamize the roads. It is the time when all such spots should be identified well on time so that the necessary steps are taken in this regard to put an end to the sufferings of commuters.
