Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a milestone as all the villages across the Union Territory have achieved the status of ODF+ Modal. In this regard, Srinagar district has emerged as a shining example of cleanliness and sanitation by achieving the ODF+ Modal Status under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 (SBM-2.0). This accomplishment has garnered widespread praise, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulating the J&K administration for its dedication and commitment to improving sanitation and hygiene in the region. After emerging as a shining example, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha awarded Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, with the Certificate of Achievement. Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat was also awarded with the Certificate of Achievement. The appreciation is not only aimed at appreciating the work done by the district administration, but it would also boost the officials and take further measures to ensure better facilities and services to the people at the grassroots level. The achievement of ODF+ Modal Status in Srinagar district is a testament to the dedication and relentless efforts of the local administration. The ODF+ Modal Status is not just a symbolic achievement but also signifies improved health and sanitation standards in the district. At this juncture, there is a need to take some further efforts to ensure that the improved health and sanitation standards are continued for the wellbeing of the people so that the situation in the districts would improve further vis-a-vis health and sanitation.
