ARTO Baramulla suspends 11 driving licenses for violations, issues show cause notices to 17

Sopore, Oct 10: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla on Tuesday suspended eleven driving licenses besides seventeen license holders were issued show cause notices for violating the motor vehicle act. Parents were asked not to hire private cabs lacking parameters for ferrying their wards to school.
During an enforcement drive, an official also warned private vehicle owners for ferrying school students without proper documentation besides use of CNG in their vehicles which may lead to untoward incidents.
The official said that an enforcement drive was carried out at Chinar crossing in Sopore outskirts by a team of the transport department led by the ARTO Muazzam Ali.
During the drive at least eleven driving licences of violators were suspended, besides seventeen such were issued show cause notices.
People have been resorting to the traffic violations which are unacceptable. These drives should serve as an eye opener for them to mend their ways and follow the rules and regulations set by the motor vehicle act, the official said.
Muazzam Ali, ARTO Baramulla said that the violators during the drive were counseled besides warned for strict action against violating the traffic rules.
He advised the parents not to hire the private cabs which are lacking parameters besides using CNG in their vehicles which may prove fatal anytime.
“Avoid over speeding, use driving belts, avoid mobile phones during driving and follow other traffic rules religiously”, the ARTO urges people. People must know their duties, must observe traffic norms and road safety rules while travelling, Ali said. Notably, earlier a few days ago ARTO seized three vehicles for violating the rules. The drive was carried following multiple complaints against private cab drivers who are involved in ferrying passengers besides that of school students without proper documents.
