Srinagar, Dec 27: At around 10 o’clock in the morning, eerie calm prevailed all across the locality when Abdul Aziz along with all of his family members were out in the market.
However, Abdul Aziz’s wife was told by some nearby people that flames and smoke are coming out from their residential house, located in Shala Kadal area of Karfali Mohalla in Srinagar.
“I ran barefooted towards my house and saw huge flames coming out. We called the Fire Service Department, but within no time our house got completely damaged, leaving us homeless,” she said.
In the incident, a four-storey residential house was gutted at Shala Kadal, Karfali Mohalla locality of Srinagar.
An official from the Fire and Emergency Department (F&ES) said that the department received a fire call at 10:09 AM in the morning, and soon the men along with machinery rushed towards the spot.
“As the fire was confined, the structure was completely damaged, with some minor damage to the nearby houses due to the water, and no loss of life or any injuries were reported in the incident,” he said, adding the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
Moreover, the wife of Abdul Aziz, owner of the property damaged in the incident, said, at the time of fire, no one was in the house when the incident occurred. “We don’t know how the fire broke out, and we are left with nothing,” she said.
“Someone came to me and said flames and smoke are coming from your house. I ran barefooted towards my house and saw huge flames coming out. We called the Fire Service Department, but within no time our house got completely damaged, leaving us homeless,” she added.
