Under the smart city project, Srinagar, the summer capital has witnessed a massive change in the past nearly one year as several projects were thrown open for the public while several more are coming up shortly as the work is in full swing. Srinagar is already a congested area and any place that would accommodate the people is being welcomed and appreciated by the local residents. Therefore, the exclusively pedestrian bridge coming up in Habba Kadal locality is set to bring a major relief to the people as the bridge that was usually remaining closed for the public due to the illegal car parking over it, will now serve as a place to rejuvenate the locals in the evening, besides the tourists as well. The people had been complaining for a long time that the bridge remains occupied throughout the day and thus simultaneously paving a less space for the people to commute over it. But, turning it into an exclusively pedestrian bridge will bring respite to the people in the congested area. There are some other projects that have turned into a major hub for tourists in Srinagar, which include Clock Tower in Lal Chowk where a huge rush of tourists and locals is being witnessed every day while the occasion of New Year was also celebrated at the spot. The people believe and hope that the new projects coming up in Srinagar would also turn into an attractive spot for the visitors, which will help the local traders to earn their livelihood as well. However, the concerned must pace up the work further and ensure that the projects are completed before the onset of summer season.
