The web of relationships in our country is getting seriously entangled. The disintegration of close relationships between educated, alert citizens living in metropolitan cities and in villages and towns is coming out in the form of criminal incidents. Especially situations of conflict between husband and wife directly or indirectly take the form of criminal incidents. As a result of the distance in our shared life, some mind-shattering incidents seem unbelievable. Even with loved ones they become an example of inhuman behavior by committing barbarity.
Recently, an incident that came to light due to the disintegration and separation in the relationship between husband and wife became an example of distortions in human behavior. In this incident that took place in Goa, a mother took the life of her four-year old innocent child. The main reason for the matter is the ongoing discord between husband and wife. It has come to light that the woman who committed this barbaric crime at the ripe age of thirty-nine was married in 2010. A son was born in 2019 and in the very next year i.e. 2020, husband and wife separated due to dispute. There was a divorce between them. The court ordered that the father could meet his child once a week. The mother became stressed over this matter. She did not want to allow her son to meet his father every Sunday as per the court order. In such a situation, complications in the relationship between parents and lack of emotional trust took the life of a child. However, this is not the only case of a financially independent and highly educated mother losing her wisdom. The knots in the relationship between husband and wife suffocate some child every day. From families trapped in a vicious cycle to privileged people, the arrogance of parents is pushing the future of the new generation towards darkness. It is unfortunate that the two people playing the role of parents do not understand that their mutual conflict also hurts the mental life of the children.
In the deteriorating situation of marital relationships, the life of children also becomes difficult. Children who do not even understand the meaning of the future become surrounded by insecurity about their future life. The sting of loneliness comes to them. They also get cut off from social life by watching sports.
Prolonged marital disputes not only have a negative impact on the emotional and sensory life of children but also on their practical life. Children who witness conflict between their parents start getting disturbed in their normal routine and important daily activities. The irony is that at the age when children need physical and mental care the most, they end up alone. Children themselves also become a part of the criminal world. It is seen that protection of children remains a battle of ego and insecurity. Children also suffer due to deteriorating relationship between their parents. In view of such cases, some time ago the Supreme Court had made a comment that would awaken the consciousness of every parent in the matter of divorce. The court had said that children always suffer loss in the fight for custody. Children not only pay a heavy price for this, but are also deprived of the love and affection of their parents during this period. The court also said that children act without mistake. They suffer this pain. It is a matter of concern that in many cases the battle for divorce between husband and wife continues for years.
The Supreme Court has said that if a marital dispute is not resolved by mediation, then the courts should try to resolve such cases as quickly as possible. The child is paying a high price for every day this process takes. It is not difficult to understand that even during the divorce process, the bitterness, complaints and accusations between the parents make the children apprehensive about their future and Terrorizes. At the same time, after divorce, the custody, upbringing and responsibility of children becomes a matter of dispute. At the same time, it is important to have a sense of human spontaneity. Especially for those who are also parents. It is true that due to mutual differences between husband and wife, if the situation becomes unbearable then the only option left is separation, but even on this issue of disintegrating relationships, sensitivity, awareness and understanding is required. Even at the time of separation, both parties share upbringing with mature thinking. It is necessary to stand on the front.
Children who live with their married, biological parents consistently have better physical, emotional and educational development, even after separation, according to nearly three decades of research evaluating the impact of family structure on children’s health and well-being. Due to lack of calm state of mind and stability, sometimes cases of taking one another’s life come to light and sometimes the lives of children are put in danger. The mother who carried out the Goa incident has received education abroad. She has been included in the list of ‘Ethics’ hundred talented women. She is a conscious woman of today.
In fact, such cases are also the result of confusion in the human psyche. Sometimes out of anger for a moment and sometimes due to fears about the future, people do not shy away from carrying out such painful incidents. Undoubtedly, the complexities of social and family relations prepare the ground for such crimes. In this case also, a brilliant, educated and financially independent woman sacrificed her innocent child. If proper communication had continued between the parents regarding the child even after separation, this situation would not have arisen. Due to direct conversation and natural interaction between the two, feelings of insecurity do not develop in the woman’s mind. The fact that this criminal incident is rooted in the apprehensions about the child meeting his father underlines the need for every parent going through a divorce to seriously understand such aspects.
In the changing social environment, every aspect that is changing from mind to life is not positive. New questions, especially on the home-family front, new problems are standing before us as challenges. The cases of divorce in our country are much less than in many countries of the world. Despite this, the complications related to married life are increasing the crime statistics rapidly. Figures from ‘World of Data Statistics’ show that even today divorce cases in India are only one percent. The real problem is that even after divorce, the understanding to accept the judicial decision and live one’s life in a respectable manner is missing. Tolerance and thoughtfulness even during the ups and downs of relationships is necessary.
