Bandipora, Jul 12: People in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday complained that despite the available infrastructure the blood bank is not being activated in the district hospital so far.
The locals said that despite available infrastructure and equipment for the blood bank at district hospital Bandipora, the authorities are not activating the blood bank in the hospital as people have been forced to run from pillar to post to find blood and plasma donors.
Mehran Sofi, a local, said that the activation of blood bank in hospital would prove a great relief to the people, but for unknown reasons, it is not being activated yet despite having all facilities and equipment.
“We can’t even describe the difficulties that a patient here suffers when he needs blood and at the moment we have no choice but to put a SOS message on social media, ” he said.
Shadab, another local, said he is an eye- witness on how much trouble it is for a patient to get the blood. “There was a pregnant woman recently who needed blood and she was crying for the same,” he said.
Nighat from Pathkoot was left helpless, after doctors decided she had to undergo a caesarean delivery, without a blood donor.
Locals urge the administration to activate the blood bank in the hospital at the earliest so that the people can breathe a sigh of relief.
An official said that the blood bank facility will be activated in the hospital very soon.
