Adhere to guidelines

Despite the fact that education is a fundamental right of every individual, some people are out to push the meaningful education to a back seat and also pave ways through different means and ways to loot the parents. In one such similar instances, the private schools, claiming high and tall about following and adhering to the guidelines have been found openly violating the norms by seeking a huge amount from the parents on the name of different charges while some of the educational institutions have been indulging in false practices of interviewing the parents as well as the students before enrolling the new children in their respective schools. It is unfortunate to witness such processes here and that nobody has so far been dealt with as per the law in this regard, which puts a question mark on the role and functioning of the concerned department. The reports have clearly mentioned that some recognized private schools charge a capitation fee at the time of admission and subject the students and their parents or guardians to screening test. However, a circular has been issued in this regard, referring to the section 13 of Right to Education Act 2009, DSEK clarifies that ‘No school or person shall, while admitting a child, collect any capitation fee and subject the child or his or her parents or guardian to any screening procedure’. Such a circular has to be implemented in letter and spirit so that there is no interference of money in the educational sector and also the children of illiterate parents are not forced to face hardships. Education teaches us equality, thus the school administrations should also obey the rules to ensure equality on the ground.
