Srinagar, Apr 17: In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Sopore have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Putkha headed by Incharge PP Putkha under the supervision of SDPO Sopore and SHO PS Tarzoo at a checkpoint at Wagub Crossing intercepted two suspicious persons. They have been identified as Irfan Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Chinkipora Sopore and Bashir Ahmad Changa son of Ghulam Qadir Changa resident of Mahrajpora Sopore. During search, 245 grams of contraband charas like substance has been recovered from their possession. They have been arrested & shifted to PS where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 28/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tarzoo and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
