Srinagar, May 25: It was not less than a surprise for the media persons as well as the locals, living in the vicinity of Janglat Mandi, Anantnag as two polling booths were set up in a parking slot.
Located on the main road, Park In Courtesy: M.C. Anantnag, a couple of security forces personnel were guarding outside the building, which indicated that the polling booth is close to the vicinity. However, it came as an utter shock when the people pointed their fingers towards the building when asked about the polling stations set up in Janglat Mandi, Anantnag.
No vehicle was parked inside the parking slot though as the facility was closed for the general public as two polling booths for 44-Anantnag including 53-Sadak-A and 53-Sadak-B were set up there.
It was for the first time that the people had seen the establishment of polling booths in the parking slot.
A security forces personnel, who was deployed at the polling stations, stated that he has never seen the polling booth established in the parking slot. The polling booths are being set up in the schools, other places, but it is for the first time I am witnessing that the polling booth has been set up in any parking facility, he said in a random chat.
Pertinently, a total of 2,338 polling stations were established across the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency. Each station were manned by four election personnel, including the presiding officer, with more than 9,000 polling staff, including reserves, mobilized for duty. (KNO)
