The water scarcity has once again affected the areas in Srinagar amidst the intense heat wave, leaving the local consumers to lurch at large. Such claims are usually being made by the people whenever the temperature increases in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Valley. Similarly, the people living in Batamaloo and Padshahi Bagh area of Srinagar have also taken to the streets yesterday to press for their demands, who claim that they are not receiving the adequate water supply for the last few days. As per the media reports, the top officials in the concerned department have admitted the facts, saying that the water level in the key water treatment plants like Ranguil has dropped significantly. This decline is attributed to the Sind extension canal, which supplies water to these plants, also being utilized by the Department of irrigation. The additional demand has led to a lower water level in the canal, the media reports have quoted the official as saying. The issue needs to be looked into at an earliest so that the water scarcity being faced by the people living in Srinagar will come to an immediate end. It is the time when the concerned department needs to ensure that all the water treatment plants have adequate water level for which necessary measures must be taken to ensure that the consumers across the Valley are not pushed to the wall and their demands of adequate water supply is fulfilled amidst the prevailing weather conditions.
