Keep Kashmir connected

Jammu and Kashmir amidst the massive footfall of tourists have once again witnessed an hindering situation as the airfare has once again gone up by above 40 per cent, which would likely affect the flow of the visitors to the Valley. The government is eyeing for the massive tourist arrival this year again like the past two years, but such a development amidst the huge rush of visitors could play a spoilsport, therefore needs a prompt action and initiative to deal with the situation. As per the media reports, a ticket for a traveller from New Delhi to Srinagar costs nearly Rs 11000 and in the other States, the rates are more exorbitant, which would deprive the middle class families and the people, who are planning their trip to Kashmir. The Valley has seen a massive surge in the footfall of tourists for the last couple of years with the government taking a series of measures and initiatives to ensure more tourists get attracted to visit Kashmir day-by-day. But, as the airfare once again skyrockets, the rush of the visitors may slow down, thereby would certainly leave the people associated with the sector to lurch at large. At this juncture, the administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha should take up the matter with the concerned authorities at an earliest to ensure that the airfare is reduced so that the people planning their trip to Kashmir are not deprived and the flow of tourists here will increase further.
