GMC Srinagar to host national-level conference on hernia surgery

Srinagar, Jul 10: Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar is set to host a two-day national-level live operative workshop cum conference on hernia starting this Friday.
The event will highlight advanced surgical techniques through live operative demonstrations and academic sessions. It is part of GMC Srinagar’s ongoing commitment to enhance medical education and surgical proficiency among healthcare professionals.
Dr Iqbal Saleem, Head of the Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery at GMC Srinagar, informed that the workshop cum conference will take place on July 12 and 13, 2024.
Dr Iffat Hassan, Principal of GMC Srinagar, is the patron, and Prof Dr Iqbal Saleem serves as the chairman, with Dr M R Attri as the Organising Secretary.
Dr Saleem said this conference, focusing solely on hernia, is a unique opportunity featuring distinguished speakers such as Padma Shri Dr Chobay from Max Hospital, along with Dr Praveen Bhatia, Dr Arun Prasad and other renowned authorities in hernia management. They will conduct live surgeries and discuss various aspects of hernia treatment, he said.
“The conference aims to impact patient care through the introduction of the latest management techniques,” Dr Iqbal said, adding that efforts will be made to showcase the extensive research and clinical work conducted by the postgraduate department of minimal access and general surgery at GMC Srinagar.
