Srinagar, Jul 26: Signia, a premier brand under the WS Audiology group and a global leader in hearing aid technology, Friday announced the opening of its 10th ‘Brilliant Sound Galaxy (BSG)’ store, this time in Srinagar. This groundbreaking concept store revolutionizes hearing care in India by allowing consumers to self-discover and self-screen their hearing, experience live demonstrations of hearing aids, and make informed decisions to enhance their hearing journey.
The BSG store in Srinagar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Padmashree Dr. Anuradha Paudwal in the presence of Avinash Pawar, CEO & MD, WS Audiology India, followed by a charitable distribution of hearing aids to underprivileged children.
Globally, hearing loss affects an estimated 1.6 billion people, with approximately 430 million experiencing severe hearing difficulties. The World Health Organization projects these numbers to rise to 2.5 billion by 2050, with 700 million facing significant hearing challenges. As per WHO estimates, in India, approximately 6.3% of the population are suffering from some kind of hearing loss and need intervention to improve their quality of life.
Hearing is one of the most ignored health issues. “As musicians, our deep association with music and sound drives us to create melodies that not only bring a sense of connectedness but also enrich the lives of our listeners. It’s a privilege to be associated with such a noble cause of empowering the hearing impaired to be more connected with society,” said playback singer Padmashree Dr. Anuradha Paudwal.
Despite solutions being available, only 20% of those affected have access to hearing aids.
“Hearing loss is the most common sensory deficit in humans today. There is a stigma associated with hearing loss that is well known. Many factors contribute to the stigma, but perhaps the biggest one is that we don’t talk about it enough,” said Avinash Pawar, CEO & Managing Director, WS Audiology India.
“Untreated hearing loss has social, physical, and psychological consequences. With the launch of BSG, we aim to provide an inclusive experience that reframes assumptions about hearing aids and empowers the people of Srinagar to take action,” Pawar continued.
Brilliant Sound Galaxy in Srinagar will be operated by Hearing Help Pvt Ltd, a trusted name in the hearing aid industry, recognized for innovative solutions, integrity, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those with hearing loss.
John Zargar, Managing Director of Hearing Help Pvt Ltd said, “Inaugurating the Brilliant Sound Galaxy center in Srinagar is a significant step in our mission to support the hearing-impaired community. This initiative will not only raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with hearing aids but also provide comprehensive and personalized hearing care solutions for the people in all major districts of J&K and Delhi NCR.”
