Ahead of I-Day: ADGP, GoC 16 Corps review security situation in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 2: Ahead of the second anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir’s bifurcation and the upcoming Independence Day (I-Day), Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Jammu, Mukesh. Singh Monday convened a security review meeting through video conference with Range Deputy Inspector Generals and District SSP of Jammu Zone.
Official sources said that the meeting discussed the overall security scenario and other measures to be taken in the run up to August 5 and 15 August, in the wake of present prevailing security scenario and recent drone attack at Jammu Airport.
A police spokesman said that a detailed briefing was given by Range DIGs and District SSPs on overall security assessment of their respective ranges and security arrangements that are being proposed to be made for I-Day celebrations.
ADGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, asked the officers to work in close coordination with each other for greater synergy, the spokesman said.
He asked the District SSP to maintain close liaison with Intelligence Agencies, Central Armed ParaMilitary forces, Army and to step up vigil and security in the District to check any attempt of infiltration, movement of anti-national elements and to forestall any ill-conceived plan of militants.
They were also instructed to keep close watch on social media activities.
Meanwhile, GOC 16 Corps today chaired a meeting to review the intelligence and security situation in Jammu region.
The meeting sought to achieve enhanced coordination between security, administration and intelligence agencies.
As per defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand top officials of Indian Army, Civil Administration and Paramilitary Forces and Intelligence agencies attended the meeting.
He added that GOC appreciated the synergy of effort achieved by the Indian Army, Security Forces and Civil Administration.
He expressed confidence and satisfaction over efforts in negating multifarious threats.
