Srinagar, Sep 20: An ocean of devotion was witnessed today in Srinagar as a swarm of faithful people thronged the Dargah Hazratbal shrine to mark the Friday following Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
The air was thick with emotion as the faithful from every corner of the Valley came together to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
According to reports, an ocean of devotees was seen at Hazratbal, Srinagar today, as the Friday following Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) was celebrated.
As the sacred relic, believed to be a strand of the Prophet’s hair, was displayed for the devotees, cries filled the air. People raised their hands in prayer, their hearts filled with reverence and hope, while tears rolled down their cheeks.
People from far-flung areas, youth, men, women and children all thronged to Hazratbal shrine, in large numbers.
As the morning began, and the clock touched nearly 12, people started arriving at Hazratbal shrine.
Ghulam Nabi, an elderly devotee from Baramulla, speaking about his deep connection with the shrine, told KNO that Hazratbal is not just a place, but it is where his heart finds peace. “I have been coming here since I was a child, and every visit feels like a reunion with my soul. This shrine holds the essence of our faith, and standing before it fills me with strength and hope,” he said.
Shazia Akhtar, another devotee from Kupwara, accompanied by her daughter, said, “Whenever I come to Hazratbal, I feel the presence of something divine. It is as if this sacred place embraces us with love and blessings. No matter how far life takes us, this shrine remains a beacon of faith and comfort for every Kashmiri.”
The Jamia Masjid also witnessed a huge rush of devotees today. However, the devotees said that they missed the sermons of religious cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on this day.
Altaf Ahmad Nath told that they missed the sermons of Mirwaiz on this auspicious occasion.
