Unauthorized absence: Govt must act tough

In the last couple of days, the district administrations in Kashmir have been taking effective measures to ensure that the culture of unauthorized absence from the routine duties by the government employees is put to an end by going ahead with the surprise visits. In several districts, the respective District Commissioners (DCs) carried out a surprise check in the last couple of days and suspended over two dozen employees for remaining absent from their duties unauthorizedly. Such complaints according to the top officials have been coming from almost every department and following the directions by the higher ups with regard to ensuring 100 per cent attendance of the employees, these measures have been taken by the respective district administrations. Action being taken against the unauthorized absence of the government employees is a welcome, which must not remain confined for a few days only. There is a need to carry out such checks once in a week to ensure that the people, who visit these government departments, are not made to suffer. By taking such measures, the people on the ground would be benefitted and their works in the departments would be easily resolved. The people have been hailing such pro-people steps and are expecting the District Commissioners to continue with the measures that would help them in the government departments. 100 per cent attendance of the employees in the departments would bring a respite among the people and thus should be ensured on the ground.
