The fate of CIC operators, who are serving in the different departments across Jammu and Kashmir, is hanging in balance as there has been no decision with regard to their regularization since they have been appointed by the government. According to the figures available, there are over 200 CIC operators who are working in various departments across J&K. These CIC operators are mostly engaged with the online works of the departments and were appointed several years ago. The files of these CIC operators have been gathering dust as there has been no favorable decision since the files have been sent to the concerned higher ups several years ago. In 2014, the Government passed a cabinet order to formulate a proposal for the regularization of 172 CIC Operators in the Rural Development Department and the year 2016, the J&K Government through its cabinet decision created 172 posts of Data Entry Operators for regularization of services of 172 CIC Operators vide Government Order No. 320-RD & PR of 2016 dated 14-12-2016. However, in 2017, the Empowered Committee of J&K Government vide its 58th meeting dated 22-03-2017 and 60th meeting dated 12-10-2017 headed by Principal Secretary, Finance Department, J&K cleared the cases for regularization under Special provision Act 2010, but to no avail. Such a delay has added to the miseries of the CIC operators and thus the government should consider completing their files at an earliest so that they are regularized and could heave a sigh of relief.
