Army organises Run For Nation on Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav in Kupwara

Kupwara, Aug 14: On the eve of 75th Independence Day, Indian Army organised a 12 Kilometre Run for Nation event in Kalaroos, Kupwara on Saturday to celebrate the spirit of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav and Naya Kashmir.”
A spokesman in a statement said that the event was aimed at promoting the sports culture in the area to channelise the youth energy in right direction and also to celebrate the spirit of Azadi.
He said that it was very heartening to see the enthusiasm and excitement of youth who turned up in large numbers to take part in this challenging run, organised in the hilly terrain of Kalaroos. “Total of 460 youth aged between 15-35 years participated in this run. The run was flagged off by Commanding Officer, Humdard-e-Kupwara Battalion and BDC Kalaroos. Other prominent personalities also graced the occasion”, the spokesman informed.
He informed that the race started at 8. am from Thaiyan Bridge at Kalaroos after a short jumba session of 10 minutes and went upto Nagsari. The race culminated at Forest Rest House in Thaiyan, Kalaroos.
The spokesman said that the Josh and spirit of competitiveness was in full display during the run when each runner was trying their level best to out-run each other. “A large number of local crowd also turned up to cheer-up the participants. The participants were highly thrilled after having completed the run and were very much impressed with the arrangement.”
The spokesman also said that top runners were awarded with medals, trophies, and exciting prizes.
It was more heartening to see Sarpanchs competing with each other and placing bets on their boys. It was truly a great display of sportsmanship, patriotism, josh in tri colors, the spokesman said.
