Srinagar, Mar 5: PDP leader Waheed ur Rehman Parra has launched a scathing attack on Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary, accusing him of blatant political opportunism and self-serving alliances.
Parra criticized Chaudhary’s shifting loyalties, highlighting how he once vehemently opposed the National Conference but now aligns with the party for political survival. “He built his career attacking NC, calling it the root of Kashmir’s problems. Today, he sits comfortably in power under Omar Abdullah, proving his only commitment is to himself,” Prara stated.
Recalling Chaudhary’s past admiration for Mehbooba Mufti, Para noted that he once hailed her as a fearless leader but now works tirelessly to discredit her. He also accused NC of failing to take a firm stand against the abrogation of Article 370, unlike Mufti, who remained defiant despite facing prolonged detention.
Parra further alleged that Chaudhary has prioritized his association with the liquor lobby over addressing key issues like unemployment and economic distress. “J&K deserves leaders with principles, not politicians who sell their convictions for power,” he said. [KNT]
