Bandipora, Aug 31: Block Medical Officer Bandipora on Tuesday sought action and recommended termination of five doctors for remaining absent from their duties on a habitual basis from a Primary Health Centre in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
An official said that BMO Bandipora, Dr Masrat Iqbal on Tuesday made a surprise visit to PHC Ashtengoo and during his visit he found 5 doctors absent from their duties, who according to him are “habitual absentees”.
He said that BMO later wrote to Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, seeking action against the absentees and recommended for their termination.
In his letter, BMO has stated that the PHC has been rendered in a deteriorating condition due to the absenteeism of these doctors and requested CMO Bandipora to take necessary action against them.
“In reference to the subject cited above it is once again brought into your notice that the undersigned visited the PHC Ashtangoo today as on 27/08/2021 and found the below mentioned doctors absent from their legitimate duties. They have been habitual of such actions. It has been brought into your notice from time to time but no action initiated,” reads that letter.
It reads that it is as such requested that the absence of doctors has created havoc and has hit the patient care badly.
“The PHC is now in a deteriorating condition (Pictures attached for your ready reference). It is recommended that their services should be terminated and the undersigned won’t be in a condition to draw their salaries,” the letter further reads.
Meanwhile, despite repeated attempts Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr Bashir Ahmad did not responded to call from this reporter.
