Women, irrespective of caste or religion, are the crown for any society. But, the shameful incidents like the one—Nishat, witnessed, is a blot as Kashmir, known as the land of Sufi saints, could have never imagined such a gruesome incident that left a nomadic women dead after being allegedly sexually assaulted by the four people, who have been arrested by the Srinagar Police in a swift action. Reports suggest that four individuals, who were drunk, allegedly assaulted the nomadic lady sexually and left her in a pool of blood before leaving the spot. This gruesome incident has left the whole region shaken and worried about the safety of their daughters. One cannot even imagine the brutality, which the nomadic lady faced before leaving to heavenly abode. This gruesome incident needs to be taken seriously and concrete measures in this regard are imperative to ensure a safe and secure environment for our daughters. The Nishat-like incidents are putting a question mark over the safety, which our daughters have in the workplaces, roads, and other spots. This incident could happen to anyone in case the culprits are not given an exemplary punishment, which would serve as an example and nobody could dare to do this act again in the future. The authorities need to act tough against the culprits and ensure that strict punishment is given to them so that nobody can even think of doing such an act in the future. The exemplary punishment would pave a way for the secure and safe environment for our daughters in this society, which is the need of the hour.
