Commissioner Secretary reviews functioning of FCS&CA department

Srinagar, Jun 18: Commissioner Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Saurabh Bhagat, Wednesday reviewed overall functioning of the department in a meeting held here.
Director FCS&CA Kashmir, Dr. Owais Ahmed besides senior officers of the department including district officers attended the meeting.
The Director FCS&CA, Kashmir, apprised the Commissioner Secretary of the stock and supply position of foodgrains and Petroleum Products in the division. It was also informed that more than 70% distribution of foodgrains for the current month has been completed while lifting for the month of July is also going on subsequently.
The Director apprised the Commissioner Secretary of various projects, ongoing schemes and plans of the department like SMART-PDS and Route Optimization Plan along with the present status of the same.
The Commissioner Secretary impressed upon all the officers to be prompt in delivering the services to the consumers. He asked them to ensure that all the assigned tasks be completed within the prescribed timeframe. He was informed that timely execution and quality disposal of the grievances is being ensured at all levels.
The Commissioner Secretary expressed confidence that under the leadership of Dr. Owais Ahmed and efforts of all the officers and officials, the department can achieve several key objectives related to food security and public distribution. These included ensuring food security for the population, particularly vulnerable groups, through efficient procurement and distribution of food grains, maintaining stable food prices and strengthening of the Public Distribution System (PDS).
