Srinagar, Jun 21: In an interesting development in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Jalal Akbar Lone—youngest son of senior National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Muhammad Akbar Lone—has formally stepped into politics.
Jalal, announced his political debut at a gathering in his native Naidkhai area of the Bandipora assembly segment on Friday. “I have formally started my political innings,” he said.
Jalal is planning to hold political gatherings in other areas of the segment.
His elder brother, Hilal Akbar Lone, won 2024 assembly election from Sonawari assembly despite his native area Naidkhai being sliced from the segment during delimitation exercise.
In the polls, Hilal secured 31000 votes while Yasir Reshi (then AIP candidate), Imtiyaz Ahmad Parrey (Apni Party) managed to get only 17000 votes each. (KNO)
