CBC organizes Yoga awareness programme at GBHSS Batamaloo

Srinagar, Jun 21: As part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, the Field Office Srinagar of the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, today organized an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Batamaloo.
Held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the programme aimed to raise awareness among youth about the importance of adopting a healthy and balanced lifestyle through the ancient practice of yoga. The event featured live yoga demonstrations by expert instructors, showcasing key asanas and breathing techniques that promote holistic well-being.
Expert instructors led live demonstrations of foundational asanas and breathing techniques, offering practical insights into yoga’s benefits for physical and mental well-being.
Naseer Ahmad Rather, Field Publicity Officer, CBC Srinagar, emphasized the universal relevance of yoga, stating that Yoga is a powerful tool for uniting the mind, body, and soul, adding it is essential that our youth understand its benefits and incorporate it into their daily lives. He also highlighted CBC’s active role in disseminating awareness on various flagship initiatives of the government across Jammu and Kashmir.
Shabir Dar, Assistant Director News, Doordarshan Srinagar, addressed the gathering and urged students to be ambassadors of healthy living. “In today’s digital and sedentary lifestyle, physical fitness is more important than ever. A sound mind can only reside in a sound body,” he said.
Showkat Hussain, Principal of GBHSS Batamaloo, expressed gratitude to CBC for organizing the programme, noting that such initiatives instill values of discipline, unity, and well-being in the younger generation. He reiterated the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for academic and personal growth.
Following the yoga session, an awareness session on the significance of yoga was also organized featuring Debate and painting competitions for students and an open quiz on yoga and its benefits. The artists of S.R Cultural Group empanelled with CBC Srinagar presented an entertaining cultural skit on Yoga, fitness and wellness.
The participants were also felicitated with mementoes and certificates. The programme concluded with a collective oath-taking ceremony, where participants pledged to embrace a healthy lifestyle and promote the ideals of peace, unity, and “One Earth, One Health.”
