Srinagar, Jun 26: In a significant public outreach initiative, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Youth Services & Sports, Information Technology and Transport, Satish Sharma, Thursday undertook an extensive tour of Lal Chowk constituency, aimed at reviewing the ongoing development works, inspecting public infrastructure and directly engaging with the local populace.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Lal Chowk, Ehsan Pardesi, along with senior officers from the FCS&CA, Youth Services & Sports and Transport Departments.
During his visit, the Minister extensively inspected several sports fields across the constituency. Taking firsthand stock of their condition, he issued immediate directions for face-lifting and upgradation of the facilities to better serve the youth of the region.
At Lasjan, the Minister reviewed the local sports ground and directed for its immediate beautification and enhancement. He also called for preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for transforming the site into a multi-facility Indoor Sports Stadium, aimed at providing the youth with state-of-the-art training and recreational infrastructure.
The Minister further visited the sports fields at Pantha Chowk and Soiteng, where he emphasized the need for urgent infrastructural improvements. He directed the concerned officers to initiate necessary interventions to convert these fields into modern, well-equipped play areas capable of hosting a variety of sporting activities.
While interacting with numerous local deputations, the Minister reassured the public that the government remains committed to welfare of the people and is actively pursuing development projects at an accelerated pace. He reiterated the administration’s focus on grassroots-level engagement and responsive governance.
Taking a comprehensive review of FCS&CA operations, the Minister directed the departmental officers to ensure uninterrupted and timely delivery of essential food supplies and grains. He stressed on addressing the public grievances with utmost urgency and accountability.
Additionally, the Minister assessed the transport facilities within the constituency. He instructed the concerned department to ensure adequate and reliable public transport connectivity for all areas under Lal Chowk.
